孕期臥床休息是針對有早產傾向的孕婦在懷孕期間的安胎治療措施,在1980年代,這項處置措施之使用開始受到質疑。由於許多實証研究發現,並沒有充分證據證實臥床休息對治療早產的成效。本文從生物醫學、文化、社會學、以及女性主義論述探討臥床休息如何被應用與看待,並揭開不同的論述間產生的爭議,藉此提供多面向之思維檢視孕期臥床休息處置,增進產科醫護專業人員重新省思此常用的臨床處置。
Bed rest during pregnancy is a therapeutic method of tocolysis for preventing preterm birth. However, there has been continuous debate on the effectiveness of this remedy since 1980s. There was no sufficient evidence that long-time lying on bed might be associated with positive outcomes of high risk pregnancy. This article explored how bed rest was studied in biomedical, cultural, sociological, and feminism discourses. Through multi-dimensional perspectives, these arguments among different discourses were critically analyzed. The article provides maternity professionals an alternative way of thinking of clinical care for pregnant women
