科技、社會、經濟的變遷，使得休閒時間越來越多，休閒的安排日趨重要。休閒，是現代人的追求，是未來重要的產業。作者認為圖書資訊學界應重視休閒研究，特別是和資訊有高度相關並且涉及資訊取得與分享的「深度休閒」之概念。本文主張休閒資訊將日趨重要，休閒資訊將是未來圖書館與社會接觸的重要媒介，而休閒中的資訊行為研究則對休閒資訊的提供將有理論面與實務面的意涵。

Along with the development of technology, social evolution, and global economics, leisure becomes an important aspect in modern societies, so do leisure industries. The author argues that studies of leisure information and leisure activities are increasingly significant with theoretical and practical impacts, and suggest library and information science scholars and practice communities pay attention to leisure research in general, and the concept of serious leisure in particular, which highly involves information acquisition and sharing activities.
