本文欲從《紐約客》系列代表作品之〈謫仙記〉中,深入剖析其蘊含在作品背後深刻思想內涵,以西方存在主義觀點比較分析後發現:白先勇〈謫仙記〉中女主角——李彤本身就是存在主義的追隨者,而作者自己更是這種哲學思想的實踐者,這種從心理哲學加以分析的方式,不僅能深入瞭解小說人物的心理發展與形象塑造,更能找出作者深刻的思想底蘊。

英文摘要

Pai Hsien-yung is good at depicting the wandering and decaying life of the second-generation mainlanders outside their homeland. His The New Yorker series of novel just presents his observation and mood on life. There is also a richness of Existentialism ideology embedding in his works. The proof of frequent occurrence of the term Existentialism evidently makes him the adherent of the very philosophy.
In this article, an attempt was made to go deeper into one of Pai’s works A Fallen Fairy, a masterpiece in The New Yorker series. Compared with Existentialism viewpoints, the protagonist in Pai’s A Fallen Fairy is an adherent to Existentialism, while Pai himself is a practiser to it. To analyze the work through psychological philosophy can get not only the psychological development of the characters in the novel, but also the insight of the author’s ideological details.
