本研究以探討日治時期臺灣之地質圖製作沿革與其內容為目的，將日治時期地質圖
製作分為：預察調查 (1896-1927)、精察調查 (1927-1940)、特別調查 (1900-1939)，分
別探討各調查中製作之地質圖種類及內容。預察調查為臺灣全島之地質概況調查，期間
製作了多幅臺灣全島地質圖。精察調查為詳細之區域地質調查，製作了十萬分之一及五
萬分之一的地質圖套圖。特別調查橫跨整個日治時期，針對特定地區或特定礦物進行調
查，發行了多數相關主題圖，其中又以煤炭與石油的主題圖居多，本文以探討此兩類礦
物地圖為主。
英文摘要
The main purpose of this study is to show the history of the geological maps in Taiwan under Japanese colonial rule period. According to the content of the geological maps, we divided them into three catalogs, which are General Survey (1896-1927), Detail Survey (1927-1940) and Special Survey (1900-1939). General Survey: a large-scale geological survey over the island. Detail Survey: smaller scales, 1:50000 and 1:100000, were made. Special Survey: maps made for particular purposes during Japanese colonial rule period, especially in oil and coal. This paper mainly explore this two types.
