本文主旨在探討美國歷史學界是如何推動美國史的全球轉向？全球美國史的研究 成果又如何影響到課堂上的歷史教學？我們透過學會、刊物、計畫報告、專書及課程教 案等方面，探究全球視野下美國史的研究與教學的互動特色。這波美國史的全球轉向， 不僅是研究層面，還延伸至第一線的授課教師的歷史教學。從本文提到的美國史學界這 波全球轉向的研究與教學的改革中，我們大致可以看出幾點特色：一、這一波轉變大概 可分為三個階段，第一階段為1997～2000年，為「美國史研究的全球化計畫」，在這項 計畫裡，《拉彼得拉報告》的發表具有標竿性意義。第二階段為2002～2007年，在《拉 彼得拉報告》的指導下，出版了《全球時代中的美國史再思考》（Rethinking American History in a Global Age），並推出「世界舞臺上的美國系列」。第三階段為2008年之後， 《世界舞臺上的美國》（America on the World Stage: A Global Approach to U.S. History） 一書的出版，將美國史的重要議題放在世界史脈絡中重新思考，具有代表性意義。二、 這波改革看似研究與教學兼重，其實更看重閱讀的授課教師如何實踐。這些全球史研究 不僅展現美國史學界的最新成果，還將成果延伸至教學現場，讓第一線教師閱讀並實際 應用在課堂上，對美國史的概論與專題有翻轉效果。

In recent years, most branches of historiography have witnessed a sharp increase in research operating with the border-crossing perspectives. Global history challenges the field’s basic organizing principle: the primacy of nation-state. In this essay, the main issue is to explain how to promote a global shift of the American history. How does America’s global research affect the history teaching in the classroom? It is suggested that we, through publications, project reports, monographs and curriculum lesson plans, etc., could explore the interactive features of research and teaching in a global perspective on American history.
