This paper designs and develops a high performance DTV receiver for mobile cars and portable devices in DVBT/ H MFN broadcasting environment. With combination of the antenna diversity technologies and dual-modulator front-end device, the DTV receiver of the paper has the advantages of high mobility and high-bandwidth reception capability. The hardware platform is composed of an embedded host system and a DVB-T/H front-end device, which are controlled by system software and front-end driver, respectively. Also, a graphic user interface is developed to complete the mobile DTV receiver from hardware to software level. In addition, the paper proposes a handover algorithm under the environment of multi-frequency network. The algorithm is implemented into the front-end driver and the back-end system software to achieve nearly seamless handover same as handover in SFN (Single Frequency Network) environment. It will improve the acceptance of the DVB-T/H receivers to the mobile passengers because they can watch digital TV without interruption due to handover between base stations.
