This article discusses the significances of crafsmen's labour based on the empirical investigations of Lukang's carpenters (joiners). It argues that the craftsmen's labour is not just a way of labour at all. Since the disciplines of apprenticeship and the labors throughout a craftsman's life are constituted by practices, the craftsmen's labour has the significances of educations and cultures both, and meanwhile it is a right kind of labour. It demonstrates the significances of multiple dimensions, such as ethic, moral, science, knowledge, aesthetic, and art; simultaneously, workman be the subject in the labour processes, and it is also the solutions of alienated labour. Since the craftsmen's labour has the universal values, this article also argues that we should not neglect its significances because of it was out-of –date, and we should exert to find the linkages between it and modern life.
