台灣東部花蓮一帶爲菲律賓海板塊及歐亞板塊交界之一部份,地震頻繁。大地測量係研究地殼變動主要方法之一,以花蓮縣壽豐爲中心,設置六個方向的放射狀觀測網,應用此方法以檢測及研究本地區之地震與地般變動之可能相應關係。從1991年5月份開始觀測至今,已測得測線有二次重大變化,顯示在測線加速縮短期間地殼正受到強力擠壓,同時引發群發地震。此外,在觀測網同地之磁力測量,於1994年8月起亦有磁力強度持續異常現象。觀測及研究這些變化,可做爲研究地震預測之重要文件。
The Hualien-Taitung pegion of Eastern Taiwan is part of the plate bocmdary of the Philippine Sea and Eurasian plates, and earthquakes occur frequently. Geodetic survey is one of the major techniques in studying the crustal movement. A radial geodetic observation net with six directions centeredat Shou-Feng, Hualien Hsien was installed. It attempts to investigate and study any possible correlation between earthquake and crustal change in the Hualien area. The observation was commenced in May 1991, and two significant distance changes of survey lines have been rscorded so far. These changes indicate that while the lines were rapidly shortening, the crust was being strongly compressed, and there occurred several Earthquake swarms. In addition, the magnetic survey in the observation net area also revealed a continuous change of magnetic intensity from August 1994. The investigation and study of these changes may provide important information for the researches on earthquake prediction.
