Obesity may be the cause of many diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, sleep disturbances or infertility. Some over-weighted people have to seek surgery to lose weight and keep their bodies in health. Intragastric balloon surgery (IGBS) is one of their options, which over-weighted people will try to lose their weight. IGBS is non-invasive and reversible. However, IGBS may induce some irritating side-effects. The most serious and common side-effects of this medical treatment are nausea and emesis. In this study, acupoints thread-embedding method is used to relieve side-effects symptoms induced by IGBS. Two acupoints, St.36 and P.6, were selected to alleviate side-effects and positive results were reported. Therefore, it is highly recommended to undergo this Chinese medicine treatment after Intragastric balloon surgery.
