The purpose of this study is to understand the work values and employment aspirations of graduating students majoring in Childcare and Education. The study was conducted through the use of questionnaires. The following points can be concluded from the study: 1. The most commonly chosen reason for seeking a career in childcare is self-fulfillment. The second- most commonly chosen reason is social satisfaction. 2. The questionnaire categories of “family financial circumstances” and “educational systems in college” did not have a close correlation to students’ work values. On the other hand, the categories of “parents’ attitudes toward education” and “primary reason for choosing to study childcare and education” were found to correlate closely to students’ work values. 3. Based on the graduating students’ responses, it was found that about 95% of the graduating students consider dedicating themselves to their employment of primary importance. More than half of the graduating students would like to obtain their first job by finding the job through their own efforts. About 60% believed that there should be some correlation between what they learned and the job in practice. More than 25% of the respondants desire to be recruited by the child-related industry. More than 50% prefer to serve children aged 2 to 6 when employed in the future. About 40% want to work in their hometown. More than 50% expect the salary of their first job to be NT$20,001 to 25,000 per month. About 50% believe the main considerations in the selection of their first job are their personal expertise and interests. 4. The questionnaire categories of “family financial circumstances” and “parents’ attitudes toward education” did not have significant correlation to employment aspirations. On the other hand, the category of “primary reason for choosing to study childcare and education” had a significant correlation on employment aspirations. 5. Based on the study’s conclusions, some practical suggestions are proposed for the reference of public institutions, schools, guardians, and graduating students.
