從薩德侯爵的作品裏，我們可以發現他理想中的縱淫不信教者（libertin）是某種形式的超人。這種超人所具有的特權是在人類一切的法令和規範之上。他們是殘酷的，無情的，而且勇於去推翻道德規範。然而究竟是甚麼元素構成了超人的絕對權力呢？這種權力的道德意義又是甚麼呢？超人的誕生是否意味著對薩德侯爵所喪失的貴族特權的另一種心理上的補償呢？在何種情況下薩德筆下的主人翁方可稱為「超人」？超人的至高無上的權力是否非得透過不斷的「否定」（n'egation）去展現？破壞（destruction）和權力（pouvoir）則是處在何種關係呢？本文的主旨便在於回答上述的問題。 事實上，薩德侯爵有意經由塑造「超人」的形象去建立他的小說世界裏的道德符碼。在創造」超人的同時，他同時也顛覆了整個宇宙的秩序和人類的道德價值，特別是基督教加諸於人類的所有道德規範。換言之，「超人」的誕生正式宣告了「解放」的完成：在宣告上帝的死王（透個對基督教的徹底顛覆）的同時，人類在精神上才得到徹底的解放。值得一提的是薩德創造了一種「超人」的語言以及利用這種語言將個人主義推向極端。 本文將由三個不同的角度去探討薩德筆下的「超人」的絕對權力及其道德意涵：冷漠無情（l'apathie），完全的不可侵犯性（l'impunite totale）和絕對的與世隔絕（la solitude absolue）。冷漠無情表現在顛覆敏感性（sensibilit'e）的美德般的神話，對別人的痛苦無動於衷及為了擁有更多的能量（'energie）而必須暫時採用的禁慾（ascese）。完全的不同侵犯性允許薩德筆下的淫蕩者可以免除所有的刑罰，而為所欲為。然而完全的不可侵犯性的特權並非無處不在，絕對的與世隔絕保證上述的淫蕩者可以毫無禁忌地去展現他們的絕對的權力。

Indeed, virtually all Sade's specialists agree that Sade tends to outline in all his works a model of the deliberate, insensitive, powerful man, well above natural law and order. Yet, what constitutes the reign of the powerful sadian human? And, what is its moral significance? Isn't the birth of the superhuman a reward for afflicted emotions through which Sade finds his lost privilege as nobleman within the feudal regime? Then, by which standard is a sadian libertine worthy of the title “super human”? Finally, are the requirements of such a domination necessarily affirmed through absolute negation? Is this destined to transcend human natural existence? All of our investigations allow us to conclude that Sade established this own code of ethics through the medium of the restitution on supreme being. Through this Sade expects permanent transcendence. What is unique in this creation of the superhuman is that Sade created a language of the dominant, and that he brought individualism to his paroxysm. Our analysis of the sovereignty of the superhuman consists, therefore, on a triple perspective: apathy, total impunity, and absolute solitude.
