作者以心理學在中國的發展為大背景，以個人的經驗為素材，鋪排出一己眼中三十年來中國心理學的演化樣貌，並立足於今天，對心理學的角色、地位、未來等做一點點思考。其中涉及到心理學與其他學科的關係、學科理論與學科應用的權衡、中國心理學道路的選擇、心理學與中國發展以及文化心理學和本土心理學等研究取向推進的可能性諸問題。

Based on his personal experience, the author has presented an evolutionary outlook on vast background of development of Psychology in China expanding over a period of thirty years. He goes ahead and reflects on role, status and future of psychology. Furthermore, the author relates psychology with other disciplines and explains the balance between theory and application of the discipline, the path that Chinese psychology has chosen to follow as well as relation between Chinese psychology and the development of China. Also addressed is the issue of possible research orientations in cultural psychology and indigenous psychology.
