In recent years, thanks to the progress of mobile technology, a new digital revolution is taking place. Given its spontaneity and interactivity, the technology is dis-rnpting the traditional one-way supply chain business model and paving the way for platforms. In the example of the publishing industry, high fixed cost meant that pub-lishers tend to only publish books from well-known writers or reputable agents. High search cost and investment risk also create barriers for potential new writers to enter the market. This leads to the emergence of many platforms to help writers publish their works and match writers with publishers, in the process drastically changing the industry structure. This research is focused on platform strategies and business models. It will discuss the influence of platforms on existing industries and try to build a platform business model that benefits all sides: creators, users and suppliers. In addition, the research also covers issues relating to copyright and makes suggestion on platform policies.
