自從Apple公司推出第一支iPhone以來，直立式與大螢幕成了智慧型手機外觀的刻板印象，雖然不同廠商想仿設法設計出不同的改變，但整體外觀仍是大同小異，而固定的外觀也局限了手機的使用體驗，因此許多手機廠商也開始思考智慧型手機的其他形式。2018年10月31日中國廠商柔宇科技推出第一支可摺疊手機「柔派」(FlexPai)，搶先手機大廠Samsung、華為，可摺疊手機的序幕於焉展開。可摺疊手機不僅在外觀的改變，也將大大改變智慧型手機在使用者體驗。

Since Apple introduced the first iPhone, the vertical formfactor and large screens have become the stereotype of the appearance of smart phones. Although different manufacturers try to create different changes, the overall appearance is still similar, and the user experience is limited. Therefore, many mobile phone manufacturers start to think about other forms of smart phones. On October 31, 2018, Chinese manufacturer Royole Technology launched the first foldable mobile phone "FlexPai", before mobile phone manufacturer Samsung, Huawei ever release their foldable mobile phone.
