康有為對孔子的推崇不遺餘力，並且聲稱自己的思想是對孔子微言大義的發明。通過對康有為與孔子的思想進行比較可以發現，康有為的思想儘管以孔子為理論來源，卻對孔子思想進行了大膽改造和過度詮釋。就康有為所提倡的孔教而言，由於過度詮釋而與孔子思想的本義漸行漸遠，最終使孔教變成了「康教」。

Kang You-Wei went to great lengths to praise Confucius and claimed that his thoughts were an invention of Confucius' simple words with deep meaning. Through the comparison between Kang You-Wei's thoughts and those of Confucius, it can be found that although Kang You-Wei's thoughts are based on Confucius, he has boldly reformed and over-interpreted his thoughts. As far as the Confucianism advocated by Kang You-Wei was concerned, the over-interpretation gradually distanced itself from the original meaning of Confucius' thought, and eventually turned Confucianism into “kangjiao”.
