Chen Que believes that human nature is not a constant process, but a dynamic process, accompanied by the role of “time”. On the basis of examining Mencius’ theory of goodness in nature and Song Confucianism's theory of mind and nature, Chen Que highlighted the practical significance of “cautious practice” and “unity of knowledge and action”, thus providing a foundation for his worship of ritual education based on the theory of mind and nature. The emphasis on the social value of ritual and music is a topic of common concern among the Ming dynasty’s descendants, including Chen Que. They express their attachment to the “homeland” that represents Chinese culture through their identification and research on etiquette and music. Chen Que is passionate about discussing etiquette, which can be seen from two aspects: discussing etiquette and practicing it.
