主要是探討早產兒餵食前吸吮安撫奶嘴對行為狀態及餵食的影響。 本研究的措施是在餵食前予以吸吮安撫奶嘴三分鐘或五分鐘。研究方法是採自我交叉研究設計；每個個案都隨機接受二個措施（三分鐘、五分鐘），並在措施前收集基準資料。研究的測量是在措施前後三十秒予以測試行為狀態，並觀察餵食表現（前五分鐘吸奶量、一餐吸奶量、一餐吸奶時間及一餐吸奶速率）。本研究共收集了 11 位合乎研究條件的早產兒。本研究結果顯示：(1) 餵食前吸吮安撫奶嘴確實會改變行為狀態增加安靜警覺狀態，減少淺睡狀態、昏昏欲睡狀態、活動警覺狀態以及哭等狀態。(2) 餵食前吸吮安撫奶嘴的行為狀態，處於安靜警覺狀態的平均餵奶速率，明顯地快於其他狀態的平均餵奶速率。(3) 早產兒在餵食前吸吮安撫奶嘴其後的餵食表現明顯優於未吸吮安撫奶嘴之後的餵食。(4) 吸吮三分鐘及五分鐘安撫奶嘴，對調整行為狀態及促進餵食表現的效果是相同的。餵食前吸吮安撫奶嘴是簡單、便宜、容易可以執行的措施，可以達到調整行為狀態、促進餵食的效果。

　　　　　The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of nonnutritivesucking (NNS) on behavioral state and feeding in premature infants beforefeeding. The premature infants were provided NNS for 3 miuntes or 5 minutesbefore bottle feeding. The premature infant was studied under crossover and theself-comparison design. Eleven premature infants were randomly administred 3minutes NNS and 5 minutes NNS, and the control condition. Behavioral state wasmeasured for 30 seconds before and after NNS. The rate of feeding which was thequiet awake state was fastest than the other state before feeding with NNS.Premature infants provided NNS before feeding have been shown to spend more timein quiet awake state and less time in active sleep, drowsiness, active awake andcrying states. NNS also has been shown to promote feeding performance. Threeminutes NNS and five minutes NNS showed the same effect on behavioral states andfeeding.
