在傳統社會裡，初產婦的哺乳經驗多半傳承自母親及親友，然而，由於家庭型態改變及醫療資訊的進步，使得產婦在面臨問題時，漸多尋求專業的醫護人員協助，故產前哺餵母乳教育有其執行的必要性及重要性。婦女由懷孕始，在決定哺餵母乳的過程中，護理人員扮演著關鍵的角色，除了提供支持與鼓勵外，並藉由護理指導讓孕婦瞭解哺餵母乳的重要性，及面對在哺餵母乳過程中的相關問題。本文就產前教育的沿革及重要性、產前教育涵蓋內容及成效加以說明，以期協助醫護人員能有效的運用產前哺餵母乳教育來提昇母乳哺育率。

In the traditional society, first-time mothers acquire information on infant feeding from their mothers, friends, and relatives. Today, as the changes in family structure and advances in medical information, the pregnant women increasingly ask help from health professionals. Thus, prenatal education of breastfeeding is necessary and important. Nurses paly an important role in mothers' decision of breastfeeding. Besides providing support and encouragement directly, nurses could advocate the importance of breastfeeding and teach ways of managing problems rising from breastfeeding through nursing instruction. This article covers history and importance of prenatal education as well as contents and effectiveness of breastfeeding education. It is hoped that health professionals can apply prenatal education effectively in order to promote breastfeeding.
