二維氣相層析儀 (GC × GC) 從設計之初至今已有 15 年之久,但直到最近幾年其發展才臻於完善,相關的文獻也陸陸續續地發表出來。對於組成成分或基質複雜的樣本,二維氣相層析儀是一個非常適合的分析工具。此技術是基於一特殊的介面 (調節器) 將兩根不同極性的 GC管柱連接在一起,分析物在第一根 GC 管柱分離後,經由調節器維持分離後的效果,一段一段地再送入到第二根 GC 管柱做更進一步的分離,使得之前被第一根管柱分離後還是無法分開的分析物再經過第二根 GC 管柱的分離使其分離開來,相較於傳統的一維氣相層析儀能有更好的分離效果,若搭配質譜儀所產生的樣品質譜圖,與標準品質譜圖相似度相當高。

Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC × GC) has been designed more than 15 years, currently, it develops to the consummation and related literatures published continuously. The two-dimensional gas chromatography is one of the most powerful analytical tools for the analysis of very complex samples. This technique is based on the application of two GC columns coated with different stationary phases (different polarity), connected in series through a special interface (modulator), the modulator ensures the preservation of the separation achieved in the first column. Compounds coeluting from the first column undergo additional separation in the second column. This leads to increased separation power of the technique compared to conventional 1D GC. If mass spectrometry is used as the detector, the mass spectra from the sample are highly identical to the mass spectra from the library.
