英文摘要

The paper presents a set of observations on political theology of Sun Yat-sen's thought. Noting that Jesus is the only religious figure mentioned in it,Sun hybridized select Chinese and Christian influences in the development of his own political theory. This combination of principles appears most poignantly in his interest in uniting that of Christian love for the stranger, i.e., universal love, with the particular Chinese principle of peace and peace-making. In this Sun takes a prophetic role as he formulates a program for democracy in the Chinese context. The paper argues that one cannot understand Sun properly unless his political theology is recognized. More significantly however is the role of exemplar along these lines that Sun is likely ever to play both internally and extei> nally in relation to Chinese political identity.
