勞工須定期健康檢查可瞭解員工健康狀況，發揮最高的生產功能；亦可早期監控職業傷病的發生，避免雇主與員工生命財產的更大損失。尿液化學檢驗為勞工定期健康檢查必要項目之一，因尿液檢驗品質無標準規範、作業流程無標準化、無認證機構認證、無相關法源管理等，無法證實檢驗結果之可靠性，導致勞工健康檢查之檢驗品質無法提昇之主要原因。勞工健康檢查尿液檢驗之品質保證應包括管理要求與技術要求：建立品質系統、分析前的檢體收集與運送、與分析中的品質管制、及分析後的結果判讀等。通過醫學實驗室認證以確保檢驗室之品質及提升勞工健康檢查之品質。
