涼山瀑布位於屏東縣、瑪家鄉涼山村南側的涼山溪谷中。民國82年11-12月和83年1-6月的調查及民國90年5月-91年4月進行12個月的鳥類資源調查，共 紀錄到22科42種，以留烏拉種最多，其次為冬候鳥4種與過境鳥4種，夏1r美鳥1種與迷鳥1種最少。此處有瀕臨絕種的臺灣特有亞種朱鸝與珍貴稀有保育類畫眉出現，是研究探討朱鸝與畫眉生態習性很理想的地點。就鳥相結構而言依序以白頭翁、是工嘴黑鴨、樹鵲、洋燕、畫眉、五色鳥、小彎嘴、綠繡目良、繡目民畫眉、赤腰燕、黑枕藍鵝、朱鸝等12種為最常見鳥種。鳥種數以12月、2月、3月、4月份較多，鳥類數量以12月、1月、2月、3月、4月份較多，因此涼山瀑布賞鳥時期則以12-4月份為最佳。

From May 2001 to April2002 and Nov.-Dec. 1993 to Jan.-Jun. 1994， two surveys were conducted on the avifauna at Liang-Shan waterfall in the south of Liang-Shan Village of Pingtung County. A total of 42 species belonged to 22 families were recorded. Itwas composed mainly of residen birds (32 species)， followed by winter migrants (4 species) and transient birds (4 species)， and a summer migrant and a vagrant species. Maroon Oriole (Griolus trailli) is an endangered species and Melodious Laughing Thrush (Garrulax canorus)， an threaten species， appeared in this area which is good place for studying these two species. The twelve most common species were Chinese Bulbul (Pycnonotus sinensis)， Black Bulbul (Hypsipetes madagascariensis)， Himalayan Tree Pie(Dendrocitta formosae)， Pacific Swallow (Hirundo tahitica)， Melodious Laughing Thrush (Garrulax canorus)， Muller's Barbet(Megalaima oorti)， Steak-breasted Scimitar Babbler(Pomatorhinus ruficollis)， Japanese White eye (Zosterops japonica)， Grey-cheeked Fulvetta (Alcippe morrisonia)， Greater Striated Swallow (Hirundo striolata)， Black-naped Blue Monarch (Hypothmis azenrea)， and Maroon Oriole (Griolus traillii). More species were recorded in December， February， March， April， and more bird number were in December， January， February， March， and April， so the better time for bird-watching is from December to April.
