移動能力是參與社會過程的條件，也是社會權力的表現，在一個父權社會手里，移動能力i是有性別上的差異。在象徵層次上，性別差異是一種文化編碼，因此移動現象也有了性別的分界，甚且移動與否和移動方式本身就是構成性別界線的向皮之一。本文集中在象徵的層次上探討性別與移動能力的關係，利用「扮裝」這個概念所遮藏之「跨越界線」的意涵，分別從公私領域的區分、交通工具之使用、以及交通工具的性別編碼三方面，去考量移動能力做為一種社會權力所牽涉的性別差異之家徵建構及其逾越，並延伸思考連結移動、性別建構與主體形成等概念的可能性。

Mobility (i.e.capacity of moving) is not only the necessary condition for us to participate in the social processes but also the expression of social power. In a patriarchal society， there is gender difference in mobility. The phenotnena of moving are coded with sexual significance， and mobility itself is an important element in terms of which the gender boundary is constructed. This article uses the concept of transvestism， which implies the transgression of gender boundary， to enquire into the symbolic relationship between mobility and gender construction. The division between public sphere and private sphere， the right to the use of vehicles， and the gender coding of vehicles are all involved in the symbolic construction and transgression of the gender boundary of mobility. Thus the construction of gender and the formation of gendered-subject are closely related to mobility and to the why， how and who of moving.
