本研究透過內容、敘事與符號學分析，瞭解電視新聞如何再現貧窮。研究發現，即使新聞旁白敘述貧窮者積極樂觀心態，但新聞報導框架、整體敘事結構及符號呈現，仍將貧窮者再現為可憐、悲哀與令人同情的。電視新聞為滿足閱聽人視覺與聽覺的刺激需求，甚至將貧窮新聞感官戲劇化，以取悅閱聽人為職志，忽略深入報導貧窮問題成因及解決之道。

This study aims to explore how TV news represents poverty by adopting
content, narrative, and semiotic analysis. The results show that TV news
tends to present poverty (by way of framing, narration, and semiotic) as pity and sadness even though TV reporters emphasize people suffering from
poverty are optimistic. TV news attempts to sensationalize and dramatize
poverty news in order to meet audience’s needs of visual and hearing
sensation-seeking which, in turn, makes TV news ignore to cover the causes
and solutions of poverty.
