對墨家哲學的研究，歷來的焦點一直都側重在「十論」中社會秩序重建的議題上，基本上符合墨學務實為用的精神，亦能清楚呈現墨學所關心的主題思考。但就墨學研究的基礎性與發展性而言，吾人應追問墨學的十論所要建構的是何種世界?尤其是根本性安身立命的基礎在於「天人關係」的確立，人於安置自家生命之外，是否存在著對理想國度的渴望，尋求在天人關係轉變中建立一種內在的和諧與歸屬感。「天」的思想是中國哲學的重要觀念，墨家亦不例外，「天」是價值與秩序的來源，道德的基礎與闡釋人倫秩序的重要觀念與入門。墨子務實而泊，但必有其所欲建立的理想世界，從而才能彰顯「天志之天道觀」、「兼愛倫理觀」、「法先王」、「用夏政」、「尊禹」等概念之內涵，是為本文的研究動機。本文欲從其天志普化流行之終極關懷的理念著手，剖析墨家天人關係中的對應，進而在此原則之下，解釋墨家對「士志於道」的堅持與把握，進而探討墨家之士的性格，以解開在重返烏托邦理想國之際，上同於天，而有天志普遍之義的實現。而在返降人間之際，士的角色與期待便成為一種應然的實踐進路，向賢雖是治國之術，但以「道」為己任，文士是厚于德行，辯于言談，博于道術，而在武士則是任俠、為義而死就「天人關係」而言，墨家之人具有一種超越現實社會限制的道德勇氣，直達所預設的理想國度，他們所具有的烏托邦性格是明顯而又令人敬佩。
