The Marantaceae are represented in the Philippines by 2 genera, Donax and Phrynium with 8 native species of which 3 are endemic and three near-endemic. All species are poorly documented in the literature and the most contemporary taxonomic treatments are more than 80 years old. We provide an up to date taxonomic treatment of the Philippine Marantaceae including a key to the species, morphological descriptions, and notes on their distribution, vernacular names, ecology and uses. Three species are
lectotypified; two species is neotypified, and one new combination is made.
