The purpose of this survey study was to test the theory of consumer socialization that relates the demographic variables, parent-child relationship, parents’ attitudes toward children’s play variable, and family consumption patterns in western quick service restaurants (western QSRs). The path analysis indicated that the partial mediator effect of parents’ attitudes toward children’s play existed between the parents-child relationship and the family consumption patterns. Results of this study provided support for the causal effects of a suggested three-factor solution for parents’ attitudes toward children’s play in western QSRs. The subsequent data analyses suggested that the demographic variables (gender, age, education, social economic status, and income) and the family consumption patterns have significant relationships.
