為了因應時代的需求,越來越多臨床護理人員邁入再進修的行列,於是面臨工作、家庭、學業的多重角色衝突。本研究目的旨在瞭解身兼護理工作的多重角色婦女,在職進修時所面臨的壓力、困境與歷程。本研究採質性研究法之焦點團體研究法,共舉辦四次焦點團體座談會,共計有29人參與。收案對象來自目前有固定工作並且同時修讀新竹市某技職院校護理系在職二技學士學位的學生。座談會皆利用半結構式的訪談指引來進行討論,時間約90分鐘,以錄音、摘要型式及參與式觀察來記錄訪談過程及內容。經由資料分析整理出四個主要範疇:一、自我突破、追求卓越-重返校園的動機。二、蠟燭多頭燒-擺盪在家庭、事業、學業、人際與自我的掙扎。三、逆境中尋生機-自我調適與因應。四、走過艱辛,漸入佳境-在職進修的轉變。本研究結果可供未來想投入在職進修行列的護理人員、護理教育界及護理行政等相關單位,對多重角色婦女在職進修可能面臨之衝突有更多的了解,以做更充分的調適與準備,並進而做為擬定政策、工作規劃的參考。

英文摘要

More and more clinical nurses choose to go back to school nowadays. These women sometimes face conflicts and challenges from work, family, and school curriculum. The study tried to understand the pressure, stress, and experiences of nurses with multiple roles when they pursued degree in a college. This qualitative study was conducted by focus group discussion. Four focus group sessions with 29 participants were held. Participants were full time employed nurses who also pursued degree as part-time students in a community college in Hsinchu. Sessions were conducted with a semi-structural interview and discussion. Each 90-minute session was tape-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. Four themes were emerged by the analysis, including: (1) pursue of excellence-motivation of self-growth, (2) burning the candle on both ends-swinging between family, career, school, society, and individual, (3) searching for solution to the conflicts-self adjustment and adaptation, (4) seeing light at the end of the tunnel--changes and enjoying the success at the end of the journey. This paper can be used as a reference to provide guidance to female nurses who seek part time study in the future. They can have more understanding and be better prepared for the challenges and conflicts if they do choose to become part time students.
