This study evaluates airline passenger awareness of cabin safety information and investigates their preferred sources of that information. Airline passengers on the Taipei-Kaohsiung, Taiwan, domestic flight route were surveyed. Factor analysis and ANOVA were
used for data analysis. Most respondents were most aware of mobile-phone use regulations and least aware of age limitations for exit-row seating. We found significant differences between passengers based on their occupation, education, and age group, and on the number
of times they had traveled by air. Most respondents expressed more confidence in cabin safety information provided by the airlines and government than in information provided by a
third party. The mass medium of television is the most preferred source for obtaining cabin safety information. Understanding airline-passenger awareness of and their preferred sources
of cabin safety information will help in the development of cabin safety education programs.
