本文檢視在犯罪學中較少被觸及的對動物進行之犯罪行為等議題。雖然本研究分析的脈絡是在英國刑事法體系下，侷限在英格蘭和威爾斯被判決犯罪人，但作者也在分析中強調此一議題應為犯罪學領域的重要問題，並希望提出一個新的思考方向：亦即，研究虐待動物和犯罪對犯罪學可能產生的貢獻。

This paper examines a neglected area in criminology-namely crimes against non-human animals. Although it analyses the English criminal law and the sentencing of those who offend in England and Wales, the authors highlight important questions for the wider discipline of criminology. In
particular, it raises the question ‘what does an examination of animals and crime have to contribute to criminology?’
