《白虎通》是東漢學者針對儒家學說進行論辯所得的結果，其內容包含政治、社會、經濟、教育、風俗等等，其思想延續自先秦儒家，但受到漢代以來學風影響，部分揉雜法家、陰陽家色彩，並吸收緯書的觀點O其中關於夫婦觀的主張，是建立於「三綱」的概念之下，且由陰陽、尊卑的角度，說明夫妻之間有男行女隨的主從關係，但也兼其同樣受到尊重的對等關係，既有絕對性亦有相對性O夫婦的相處是尊卑及對等同時兼備，因而是互敬互愛，也是互助互勉的O在家庭中為避免意見紛雜多歧，基於夫尊妻卑，妻以夫為天的原則，妻子應以服從為本，其其體主張即為「三從之道J0至於夫妻榮辱與共，倘若丈夫言行不當，可予以勸誅，即使不聽從，妻子也不 可因此求去，因為一旦成為其妻，終身不改變節操O再者，夫妻均應獲得同等的尊重，由許多典禮都有主婦必須參與的節目，顯見婦女的社會地位並未被忽視O

BaiHu Tong" is the result that East Han Dynasty's scholars debated on Confucianism. Itscontent includes politics， society， economy，education， customs etc. Itsthoughts succeed from before-Qin's Confucianism. Affected by Han Dynasty atmosphere，“Bai Hu Tong" also absorbs other thoughts from legalists， astrologers， and prophets. In “BaiHu Tong"， conceptions of relationship of couples were established under concepts of “SanGang". From viewpoints of “Yin-Yang"and “Primary-Secondary"， the relation between husbands and wives not only contains equalization and courtesy， but also includes the absolutes and relativity.In “BaiHu Tong"， it describes couples should respect， love， help and encourage each other. Based on the conception of “SanGang" once there are conflicts between couples， wives should follow husbands' opinion. Husbands and wives need to enjoy and suffer together. Even sometimes husbands and wives have miscommunication， wives still need to respect their husbands and stay with them forever. Itseems women's positions in ancient China were humble. However， women still could present in major activities and ceremonies. Itshows women were not totally ignored.
