本行動研究因幼稚園大班教室科學角所飼養的天竺鼠不明原因死亡而起,主要目的為透過寵物死亡教育相關活動的實施,暸解幼兒對寵物死亡的看法與態度;其次,分析活動實施歷程中,幼兒對寵物死亡態度的轉變,並期待幼兒面對寵物之死能抱持合宜的態度、情戚與認知且尊重寵物的寶貴生命。本研究採行動研究法進行,而研究對象為幼稚園大班的二十五位學生、四個半月之行動歷程中發現:一、依據幼兒需求,發展寵物死亡教育活動,包括討論對寵物死亡所持的想法與成覺、討論寵物死後的世界、參觀動物醫院、繪畫出與已故天竺鼠的相處及再飼養新的寵物等。
二、寵物的死亡對部分幼兒的影響更甚於實際關俘、疏遠之親人死亡三、幼兒對於寵物死後的世界十分好奇並充滿想像四、幼兒對於寵物的死因新寵物的來臨逐漸釋懷五、專業人士的寵物死因說明有助於化解幼兒的疑惑與悲傷

英文摘要

The purposes of the study are, by implementing the pets' death education program, to explore the young children's understanding of and attitudes toward pets' death, the transformation in young children's attitudes toward pets' death, and to help them develop appropriate knowledge and feeling of pets' death as well as respect the lives of pets. The subjects are 25 kindergarten students at the age of 5. The action research method was applied in the study. The findings of the research during 4.5 months are as follows: 1. The pets' death education program was developed,including exploring the meaning of pets' death, discussing the world where the dead pets live, painting the memory for the dead pets,visiting the vet's, raising another pet and so on. 2. Some young children got sadder and more grief because of their pets' death than because of their distant relatives' death. 3. Young children wondered the world where the dead pets live.4. Young children's wonder, loss and grief caused by the pets' death faded gradually with raising another pet. 5. The vet's professional explanation of pets' death helped the children recover from the grief.
