近年來,台灣政府致力於推動國際化教育以便吸引國際學生來台就讀,然而,正當國際學生的人數日益趨多之時,他們所面臨的問題及就學經驗,在台灣的學術界卻鮮少有人研究。本研究目的即是深入探討國際學生在台灣就讀的經驗,並以五名國際學生在四項研究主題:一、語言隔閡;二、教室文化;三、科學學術寫作;四、交朋友圈:的觀點來探討其在台灣的就讀經驗。研究資料蒐集歷時兩個學期,來源包括半結構式訪談、教室及實驗室觀察紀錄,以及國際學生的寫作草稿。研究結果顯示,四項與國際學生就讀經驗有關的研究主題皆會影響其在台灣就讀的情形。透過本文深入探討國際學生在台灣的就讀經驗,藉以提供台灣高等教育國際化相關決策者、研究學者及教育者些許有效建議。

英文摘要

In recent years, the Taiwanese government has promoted global education at Taiwanese universities in the hope of attracting international students to higher education programs in Taiwan. As a consequence, the population of international graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in Taiwan is increasing. However, while the number of international students studying in Taiwan has increased considerably in recent years, little is known about their studying experiences. The purpose of this study is to explore five international graduate students' academic experiences at a Taiwanese university by investigating their perceptions related to four themes: 1. language barriers; 2. classroom culture; 3. academic writing in Science; 4. friendship networks. Data collection covered two semesters and it included semi-structured interviews, classroom and laboratory observations, and writing samples. The findings indicated that international students' experiences regarding the four themes had both positive and negative impacts on their studies in Taiwan. Insights gained from this study offered practical implications for policy makers, researchers as well as educators involved in internationalizing higher education in Taiwan.
