中山路是南寧市最早的幾條街道之一，在這條街道上形成了頗具規模的飲食夜市。儘管中山路夜市存在著種種弊病，但是這不妨礙它體現自身的文化特色，甚至成爲外地、外國遊客接觸和體驜地方特色生活的絕佳地點。在城市發展、社會轉型的過程中，城市公共空間和公共生活的重建，雖然給民眾帶來了較寬闊帄整的街道、新的設施、相對「文明」的城市面貌以及跟隨時代的娛樂形式，但這一切是否以民眾逐漸失去代代相傳的相對穩定的傳統文化和生活方式爲代價呢？民眾對此又作何反應？本文透過描述中山路夜市的空間型態及內涵，嘗試探尋中山路夜市所具有的文化象徵意義。

Zhongshan Road is one of the earliest commercial streets in Nanning. Recently a night market of quite considerable scale has developed along it. Although there have been outbreaks of disease, this has not prevented the Zhongshan Road night market from manifesting own cultural
characteristics, and even becoming the place par excellence for people from other areas and foreign tourists to make contact and experience local flavors and local life. In the process of urban development and social transformation, the reconstruction of public space and public life has brought the populace broad smooth streets, new facilities, a relatively 'civilized' urban appearance, and new forms of entertainment in keeping with the times, but the question is whether all these will come at the price of people gradually losing the relative stability that came with the transmission of traditional culture and life styles from generation to generation, and if so, what responses will the population make to this? This article investigates the cultural and symbolic significance of the Zhongshan Road night market through a description of its spatial characteristics.
