「普度」一個臺灣漢人社會常見的儀式行爲，這個儀式除了包含了宗教與社會的意涵，也透過這樣的祭祀行爲，展現「人」對於「另一個世界」飲食的想像。本文透過筆者在臺南府城地區2003到2005年的田野資料為底，探索臺南寺廟普度祭品的象徵及文化意涵，以及在普度中的一些文化現象。
英文摘要
The 'Universal Salvation' rite of the ghost festival is a ritual commonly observed in Han Chinese society in Taiwan. In addition to their religious and social significance, offerings presented during this ritual reveal the foodstuffs of 'the other world' as imagined by the 'human beings' of this world. Based on field data collected by the author during the period 2003-2005 in Tainan, this article explores the symbols and the cultural significance of the sacrificial offerings in the Universal Salvation rite in Tainan city temples and related culture phenomena of the ghost festival
