隨著高齡人口數逐年快速的增加,老年人與老化議題亦逐漸獲得重視。然而,相關的研究指出,現行學校教育常受到老化偏見的影響,因而無法教導年輕學生們能夠擁有正確的老化知識、態度與技能,以便有能力面對自己的老化、家中長者的老化與社會結構的老化。其中,「教科書」是學校教育中最核心與最基礎的部分,因為它占據了學生班級學習大部分的時間。有鑑於此,本研究聚焦於探討與分析國民中學的教科書內容,以檢視是否有符合於老化教育的原則,從而根據研究結果,具體提出國民中學教科書相關的修改建議與方向。
With the coming of aging society, the older population is gradually increasing, and people are living longer than ever before. However, older people are often portrayed as insignificant, unhealthy, sad, passive and dependent in the school textbooks. That is, ageism appears in the school textbooks in subtle ways. Under this situation, if children continue to learn from early age that growing old is bad, then as adults they are more likely to avoid older people, practice age discrimination, deny their own aging, and develop lower self-perceptions in later life. Therefore, aging education that promotes balanced and realistic attitudes counters ageism by promoting a supportive environment that is important for successful aging. Given that, this study aims to systematically illustrate the current status of aging education in secondary school textbooks.
