Twin-engine wide-body commercial aircrafts of 300 passenger capacity have become main fleet to many airlines in the recent decades. The extended-range twin-engine operation (ETOPS) is most welcome to operate crossing oceans. ETOPS relates to aircraft performance, regular maintenance, airline operation and alternate airports with standard equipment. To flight safety concerns, the necessary requirements to meet the North Pacific area operation are surveyed in this paper. It is an integral
and global problem to discuss in details from basic 90 minutes to 207
minutes operation. This paper is a technical survey to explore its impact to today’s air transportation system. As a result, Eva Air is ready to operate the B777-300ER for North Pacific services.
