This paper aims to assess the fatigue implications in Taiwan’s aviation
industry, to reduce the negative effects caused by fatigue. It begins with
analyzing the flight time limitations in several countries. Next, an
investigation is conducted regarding the fatigue implications of duty
schedules involving different time zones from Taiwan. Finally, this research applies the fatigue model in evaluating scheduled duties. The conclusions suggest that scientific data on fatigue should be incorporated into airline schedule construction. It is also recommended that the civil aviation authorities conduct periodic and spot checks on operators’ records regarding pilot fatigue issues and aircraft commanders’ reports to guarantee a feasible and safe scheduling.
