The interactions of blast waves with a moving body pushed by the blast waves are studied numerically. The two-dimensional, viscous,unsteady, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations are solved by the implicit-time formulation. A dual time-stepping, multi-stage scheme
is used to obtain better results for pure convective processes. For the spatial discretization, the second order upwind scheme is employed. The physical quantities at cell faces are computed using a multidimensional linear reconstruction approach. Dynamic mesh model is applied to where the
shape of the domain is changing with time due to the body motion. The
pressure-time histories on the fixed and moving bodies impacted by the
blast wave are also analyzed. Finally, the blast effects on the different
shapes of wheeled armored vehicle hulls are calculated and compared. The
proposed physical model and the numerical simulations used in the present
work can be extended to solve shock wave interactions with other complex
boundaries.
