子山擅長藝文,尤工「辭」「賦」,體制紛陳,風格多變。先仕雍熙之朝,豔麗為主;後逢離亂之運,蕭瑟居宗,豔麗風歸輕倩,蕭瑟詞漸老成。南國北庭,楚朔乖調;少年壯艾,質氣異懷。所以鋪「辭」誦「賦」,風調殊致;肆「錦」列「繡」,綺錯同工。敷衽論心,可得而言:一曰饜飫前修之膏澤;二曰居梁綺豔之聲華;三曰仕北蕭瑟之感慨;四曰開啟後世之規矩。鑽研子山辭賦,斯為津梁。學者能沈酣翫繹,則文其可庶矣。

英文摘要

Yu-Huien was adept in literature, especially good at gorgeous rhetoric and euphuistical antithesis. At that time, his style of writing was to the fore. In the beginning, he worked as government official in the peaceful ages, Liang dynasty, his homeland, so the style of gorgeous rhetoric was his dominant writing feature. Later on, he was exiled from his fatherland, and lived in the north foreign country, so desolation was the keynote in his writing. The style of gorgeous rhetoric sounded relaxing and lively while the style of desolation looked mature and sophisticated. His homeland was situated in the South, but the foreign country was in the North, so both styles were entirely alien from each other. Similarly, the stirring of emotion in youth and the advance of old age also couldn’t be the same. As a result, the style of gorgeous rhetoric and euphuistical antithesis was completely different. Now, I am going to discuss the origin, development and influence of their styles: first, absorbing the essence of the people of former times; second, introducing the style of gorgeous rhetoric in Liang dynasty; third, expressing the tone of desolation in the northern country; fourth, explaining how the articles inspired the writing patterns of the people of future generation. If we, the people of future generation can commit ourselves to studying Yu-Huien's works, then there will be no difficulty in writing Chinese compositions.
