「六朝」之作，踵先士以增華：「麗辭」之功，並古文而競爽。其「體」固炳烺煒燁，典雅矞皇，綺穀閃爍於行間，宮商瀰漫於簡上。或嗤其膏腴害骨，規矩傷才，故為端正視聽，乃始和墨搦筆。一曰麗偶之藻：二曰綺縠之辭；三曰鏗鏘之音：四曰繁夥之典。至其為用，則無異古文，而常人失聽，輒出謬言。或誣為繁文亂政：或譏為俳優矯情，「無用」之評，囂然塵上。實則文用之大，莫之與京：藝能之高，難乎有偶。一曰具論事明理之便：二曰含寫景抒情之長：三曰文有徵實之義；四曰章多博雅之功：五曰雕鏤堪為藝翫；六曰纂組亦周世用。體用之論，昭昭已明，詞人之心，耿耿可鑒。則「六朝」士情霞蔚，高才可風：「麗辭」波連，睿製不枉。

During the South dynasty, the literary works started to be divided into two different styles. One was classic articles. And the other was so called Pienwen (gorgeous rhetoric). For thousands of years, those who highly advocated and exalted the classic literary works, thought Piewen was of little value. Therefore, now, I would like to take the style and application of Pienwen as the subject of my thesis, and make a good discussion about it. As for the style, there are several types of them: First, the symmetrical diction; the second, the gorgeous rhetoric; the third, the melodious rhyme; and the fourth, various origins. As for the implication, first, Pienwen could be served to not only illustrate the truth and principles but also discuss affairs clearly. Thesecond, there is a professional specialty in Pienwen to describe the scenery and express feelings and emotions. The third, Pienwen has the efficacy to trace the origin. The fourth, Pienwen has the quality of being widespread and classic. The fifth, the articles of Pienwen could be written in an ornate style and be appreciated as a kind of art. The sixth, the rhetorical sentences could be consisted of the articles. Furthermore, they could meet the needs of the world. In conclusion, the style of Piewen during Lyiou dynasty was gorgeous, splendid, and the application was widespread as well. Now, living in the modern world, we should spread and popularize Piewen so that the treasure could be forever kept and valued greatly.
