墨家學派於戰國時期號稱顯學，自驟衰於秦季漢初之際，至西漢中期司馬遷於《史記．孟子荀卿列傳》僅以語焉不詳的寥寥二十四個字敘之。或有以為此乃肇因於遷不得見《墨子》及墨家相關文獻所致。筆者拙文之作，嘗試以三部分作為探討軸心：其一，從司馬遷太史令的家學背景著手，說明其對於墨家相關文獻的掌握情形；其二，檢閱史遷剪裁文獻、刻劃歷史人物的墨家視角；其三，分析〈孟子荀卿列傳〉「敘墨子獨作疑詞」的可能原因。藉此考見墨子傳記之疏略當非由於西漢中期的墨學舊聞散佚或史文闕略，而今本所見之敘墨子二十四個字恐亦極可能非史遷所撰之原貌。

The Mohist of thought is known as a famous doctrine in the Warring States time, since is on the decline suddenly in the Qin end Han Dynasty initial period, to Western Han Dynasty intermediate stage Ssu-ma Chien in " Shihchi．Mencius Xun Zi biography" only by insufficiently detailed very few 24 character record. Some scholars thought that this is because Ssu-ma Chien is unable to read "MoZi" creates with the Mohist related literature. The author writes this article, attempts by three parts takes the discussion axle center: First, begins from the Ssu-ma Chien imperial astronomer's family study background, to explain that he grasps the situation regarding the Mohist related literature; Second, inspect Ssu-ma Chien selected document, scoring historical personage's Mohist angle of view; Third, divide analyzes “narrates MoZi with the indefinite word” the possible reason. Takes advantage of this explained that the MoZi biography brief should not be because the Western Han Dynasty intermediate stage's Mohism study historical anecdotes are scattered and lost or the history article omissions and abbreviations, but perhaps the nowadays sees narrates MoZi 24 characters is not the historian Ssu-ma Chien composition original clause.
