本文主要在於解析高等教育市場化的相關議題。首先，先針對高等教育市場化的內涵來說明；其次，關於高等教育為什麼要進行市場化的緣由來做剖析；然後，介紹高等教育市場化的途徑：共有五大途徑，依序為教育鬆綁（deregulation ofeducation）、教育壟斷消除（de-monopolization of education）、教育民營化（privatizationof education）、教育外包（contract of education）與教育選擇權（option of education）；接著，分析各國高等教育市場化的三個趨勢：高等教育的大量擴充、產學合作的逐漸盛行，以及高等教育的類型多元，並以台灣、美國、英國與澳洲等四個國家來說明；再來，指出未來高等教育市場化可能會衍生的隱憂，分別是大學學術水準可能會向下沉淪、產生大學教育質量失衡問題、造成大學彼此之間惡性競爭、功利導向逐漸崩解大學內部生態平衡，以及市場機制牽制大學卓越發展；最後，提出高等教育市場化的因應對策，依序是實施大學分類定位、設立大學評鑑機制與加強產學雙方合作。希望藉由本文的提出，能讓我國高等教育在市場化的過程中能一切順利，並能達成國際一流大學的目標。
