傅統上地表地物是以平面方式顯示在地圖中，而立體地圖提供更真實直接的地表起伏，對於軍隊戰略、戰術演訓使用有極大的便利。地理资訊系統(GIS)内含許多功能模組可以結合数值高程（地形）模型和多種空間资料来源，如航空像片、遥测影像，來形成立體影像，以强調地表地物起伏感覺。本文中將詳述各處理步骤及目的，並以数圖表達處理之結果。

Conventionally, the terrain features are expressed flatly in a map. For more realistie and direct understanding, the stereo maps are the main concerns in order to support the military strategic and tactic exercises. The Geographical Information Systems (GIS) provide many modular tools which can integrate various spatial data resoures, i.e. aerophotos, remotely sensed images, with Digital Terrain Model (DTM) to highlight the terrain surface. In this paper, several figures are used to express the processed results and the detailed processing steps and purposes.
