自殺是世界性的心理衛生議題，了解引起自殺的相關風險因子，將是自殺防治的重點。本研究旨在探討人口老化與社會整體自殺死亡率之間的關聯性，藉以提供政府研擬自殺防治措施參考。針對人口老化與社會整體自殺死亡率做時間序列趨勢研究。相較於總自殺人數中65 歲以上自殺的比例，65 歲以上自殺死亡率以及老齡人口比例對社會整體自殺死亡率的影響較大。研究結果支持人口老化將可能造成社會整體自殺死亡率的弱傳動假說。

Suicide is a worldwide issue of mental health, so it plays a crucial role for suicide prevention to understand risk factors that influence suicide. This study explores the relationship between aging population and suicide mortality in order to provide some reference for the prevention of suicide. Time series analysis was used to analyze the trends of ageing population and suicide mortality. suicide mortality of aged 65 and higher and population aged 65 and higher have a greater impact of suicide mortality than the proportion of the elderly committed suicide. The research results support the weak transmission hypothesis that ageing population will increase suicide mortality.
