《金匱要略》記載，蛇床子散爲溫陰中坐藥。《永類方》治療痔瘡腫痛不可忍，以蛇床子煎湯熏洗。《外科正宗》痔屬風燥腫，可有蛇床子湯。本研究以蛇床子煎湯熏洗的方法，針對三種急性發作的痔瘡，即內痔脫出嵌頓、血栓性外痔及炎性外痔，進行臨床觀察及研究。總計收集188病例半隨機分爲兩組，治療組以蛇床子湯熏洗，酌性輔以止痛藥及軟便劑，對蛝組則用溫水坐浴，並配合止痛藥、軟便劑及含固醇類的藥膏，觀察治療兩個療程。結果發現血栓性外痔有顯著的療效。

Cindium Seed Powder recorded in Jinggui Yaolue book was a warm bath formula of vaginal disease. Yong-Lei-Fang provided steaming-wash of cnidium Seed de4coction to treat intractably painful swelling hemorrhoids. And described in Orthodox Manual of External Medicine, Cnidium Seed Decoction could treat disease pattern of wind-dryness swelling hemorrhoids. The present study the effects of Cnidium Seed decoction cooking and steaming-wash to treat incarceration of acute prolapsed internal hemorrhoids, thromboses external hemorrhoids as well as inflammatory external hemorrhoids were observed. One hundred eighty-gight patients were enrolled and randomly divided into control and treat group for two course therapy. The treat group received Cnidium Seed decoction steaming-wash and minor analgesics and laxatives. The control group was treated with warm water, minor analgesics, laxatives and topical steroid cream. The result demonstrated the type of thromboses external hemorrhoids had a significant effect.
