Primary malignant melanoma of the penis is rare. Since the first report in 1859, a total of 73 cases had been reported by 1991 [1]. On a review of the literature, we found that its prognosis is poor, and that most patients die within a few years due to distant metastasis. We report on 1 case of malignant melanoma of the penis, which was treated by total amputation of the penis; the patient is alive and no recurrence of tumor has been noted after a 4-year follow- up.
