近代漢語出現許多轉折連詞，且大多源自限定副詞，包括「 但」、「但是」、「只」、「只是」、「不過」、「只不過 」等。詳細檢驗六詞的歷史發展後，本文指出，六詞中除了 「但是」是詞彙化而成，其餘各詞都是語法化而成，而且這 五詞的轉折用法都源自限定區Ij詞的評價功能，但轉折義則 是來自語境。從限定到轉折的演變也見於其他語言，文中也 將探討其他語言中兼表限定與轉折的詞語，一窺其中的演變 共性。

Many adversative conjunctions have emerged in Chinese during the last thousand years， and most of them originate from exclusive adverbs. A detailed examination of the historical development of d仰， danshi， zhi， zhishi， buguo， zhibuguo reveals that danshi emerges from lexicalization while the other five adversative conjunctions， from grammaticalization. These five conjunctions are derived from the evaluative function of exclusive adverbs， but their adversative meanings appear based on the context. This linguistic change can also be found in other languages; by observing these foreign words， a firmer grasp of this change is therefore acquired.
