在臨床有一部分上呼吸道感染的病患在後期會進展成慢性咽喉炎。患者整天會覺咽中痰梗，咳之不出，嚥之不下，鼻涕倒流，鼻塞，時而咽乾咽癢劇烈咳嗽等症狀，嚴重者病情反覆達數月而不癒。筆者以半夏厚朴湯治之甚效，特此討論本病之成因及治療方式。
