硬質合金是以碳化鎢粉末為基體，以鈷粉作粘結劑經加壓、燒結而成。其中碳化鎢顆粒提供高硬度及耐磨耗性，而鈷提供了韌化功能，而形成兼具硬度與韌性的複合材料，常使用於印刷電路板的鑽頭。本例即報告一個案極可能是因機檯上鑽頭的研磨而吸入相關金屬粉塵造成之硬金屬肺病，特別是其中鈷粉塵的接觸。在台灣，由於印刷電路板是重大科技產業, 針對作業員在鑽頭研磨過程中造成可能危害，値得進一步做研究調查。

Hard metal lung disease is a rare and somewhat mysterious occupational interstitial lung disease that affects people exposed to dust from hard metal objects, especially can occur in workers engaged in the manufacture, utilization, or maintenance of tools composed of hard metal. Hard metal is generally produced by compacting powdered tungsten carbide and cobalt into a polycrystalline material, hardness almost to be diamond. We report a case of occupational interstitial lung disease that occur due to occupational exposure during the process of the drill of print circuit board and make a review. Hopefully, it may provide occupational physicians alert the condition, especially; information Technology industry is an important industry in Taiwan.
